Ode to the long-last love

He showed up in her dreams,

Dreams that brought in tears.

He said, “I’ve left all that for you to be happy.”

But, where in, him leaving brought her happiness.

She missed lying on comfortable chests.

She missed hearing heartbeats that sounded like he said, “I’ll always be right here.”

She missed him telling her how larger than life her eyes seemed to him.

She missed watching him flex his muscles all morning.

She missed seeing the strongest person in herself when with him.

She missed them walking on the coldest streets and the way she still felt warm.

It was the love, the love from a father

that she’ll now and forever miss.
