There are many reasons most Americans consume mounds of fast food. It’s very easy to obtain—they can just pick up their food from any store; it usually takes up to 10 minutes to prepare and procure (hence the name!); and fast foods are as cheap as chips. A big mac, which includes fries, a coke, and an apple pie, only costs five dollars! Due to these factors, the popularity of fast food is booming all over the United States.

These filling, appetizing, unhealthy junk introduced Americans on how to eat food without knives and forks. The main reason why we prefer it over other meals is because you can just order from a chain and go on with your day instead of spending loads of time in your kitchen and wasting your energy. McDonald’s is the most popular fast food chain restaurant; with over 37,000 locations, it completely dwarfs all other fast food restaurants in number.

Over 20% of American meals are eaten in cars, a tradition that was first introduced by McDonald’s. Due to all the salt, fat, and sugar added to this food, it is one of the leading causes of obesity and other illnesses. Over three hundred thousand people die each year from being obese or overweight, so it is very important to look after yourself. Treating yourself to junk food once in a while is not wrong, but eating it almost every day will have a serious negative impact on your health. Limit the amount of fast food and other unhealthy foods, opting for healthier alternatives instead!
