Literature created from the imagination and not presented as fact, though it may be based on a true story or situation, is called fiction. Characters and backgrounds from such stories are very versatile in nature; they can be mythical or purely imaginary, which makes them more interesting to the eyes yearning for a visual treat. In my perspective, fiction is both a medium of escape for the mere human who wonders for something more than life and a good source of entertainment. It is propagated around the world in many ways, like through fables, legends, myths, fairy tales, poetry, plays, films, video games, television programmes, etc.
Fiction can be distinguished into two types: “slight fiction,” where there is not much deviation from a non-fiction story but an alien element is added to the plot like the main character (an imagined person), and “historical fiction,” where the story is set in the past. The other part of fiction is extreme fiction, or what one might call fantasy.
This kind of writing sometimes portrays the writer’s hopes for the future they view or desire There are many instances when it came true, like Jules Verne’s novel to the Moon, which was published in 1865 while in 1969 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first people to land on the Moon. Many have mentioned about flying cars and time machines which we can’t be so sure about, but hey, hope is everything!
It acts as a place where anyone can put their ideas or their vision for the future, no matter how absurd, into motion. It creates amazing worlds to explore. The novels that got me into fiction were Harry Potter and Geronimo Stilton; both are wondrous books. The interesting thing about these sorts of books was the world they create, unordinary to the ordinary mind, the views described in detail with amazing metaphors and personifications.
Fiction is an escape from the real world, an imaginary place to visit when you get lonely or bored, and something that provides you with great happiness. The love for fiction is better with books, as you can visualise it on your own and it is not predesigned as in television; overall, it’s a common place for everyone to just feel happy in this busy world.
