Graffiti seems to be everywhere around us, especially when you are living in a city. Usually in public places, we find these visual artworks on old buildings, abandoned factory walls, or fences. In fact, all of us have been exposed to a lot of graffiti since a very young age. When we go outside to travel through a city, our young minds are often awestruck by the massive spray-painted letters on street blocks.
Most of us are used to playing a popular game called Subway Surfers; the whole game was based on a police officer chasing a teen who graffitied a subway wall. Brings back memories, doesn’t it? Although graffiti artists have developed a style of using spray paint, huge shapes, and stencils, graffiti wasn’t always like this. It also included carvings and scripts on walls from a very ancient time. Graffiti that was made ages ago on historical buildings gives us an unabridged glimpse of people’s thoughts during that period. Graffiti can show controversial thoughts, common problems, rebellious nature, or just plain art. Although it is illegal in many countries and measures are taken to prevent such activities, this visual art form doesn’t seem to be coming to an end. While many consider it an act of pure vandalism, others consider it an art. What do you think?
